1918 saw the Founding of the Schwitzer Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1952, the first Schwitzer turbocharger was used in a Cummins Diesel Racer while in 1954, production of the first Schwitzer turbocharger for CAT began. In 1962, there was a collaboration between Schwitzer (U.S.), AG Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch (Germany) and Holset (U.K.). In 1999, Schwitzer was taken over by Borg Warner and integrated in BorgWarner Turbo Systems along with 3K-Warner, which in 2003 renamed as Borg Warner Turbo Systems GmbH. Schwitzer mainly offer solutions for the heavier commercial turbodiesel problems. That is why Schwitzer earned its reputation in the industrial and transport contexts, where engines are used under the severest loads. Schwitzer turbochargers can be found in Deutz, Scania, CAT, Renault and various other engines
